“SHARE WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE”: A NOTE FROM OUR SISTER PARISH

As our mission with our Sister Parish in Honduras has grown over the last twenty years, we have added dedicated staff to help build and maintain our four programs; spiritual, medical, agriculture and education. Among this team is Alba, a registered nurse, who helps with our medical mission. Alba has many responsibilities within the community; she does nurse visits, distributes medications, accompanies the doctor on his weekly visits to parishioners, gives public health education and aids in our annual medical missions. Here is a message from Alba, expressing her gratitude to St. Michael's for her ability to help her community through the good faith of St. Michael's parishioners.

"My name is Alba, I am the nurse from Nueva Palestina who works with the Honduras Sister Parish Mission. It is an honor and pride to have a parish like St. Michael's because it is a school, in which teaches me to let go of what one has. You have taught me a lot in how to share with those who do not have. I have strong admiration for what you give, and God will reward you double. What you have given us as a parish has provided many blessings and my prayers to God is to always bless those in St. Michael’s Church.

All the visits for me bring me many happy memories, my favorite are of recent with our medical missions. Over two missions in three years we were able to serve over 1,300 parishioners. Everyone who came worked tirelessly to care for us, help with teaching of hygiene and distribute medications. What I like most is that when the sick are treated they rejoice their thanks to God. With the medicines that have been provided by St. Michael's, we are able to help heal the sick, especially since the health centers here are almost nothing to give to the people in the community. We thank God in mass daily for our relationship with our Sister Parish of St. Michael's."
