EAGLE SCOUT PROJECTS ON CAMPUS

EAGLE SCOUTS

We are so grateful to two Eagle Scouts in our community who have been hard at work beautifying some of our beloved campus spots! An Eagle Scout Project allows a scout to demonstrate leadership skills by overseeing a group of scouts completing a project that benefits the community.

Collin Paskanik's Eagle Scout Project involved turning an unused space, adjacent to the playground, into a garden for the preschool students. Collin led the Boy Scouts in building and installing two raised planter boxes, which they filled with a variety of herbs and flowers.

Thank you to Scout Evan Nazareth for his leadership in the clean-up of the Stations of the Cross pathway between the Conference Center and Church parking lot. Under Evan’s leadership, the Scouts removed and replaced the old landscape edging, pruned back dead trees and undergrowth, leveled the existing path, and placed new landscape gravel. Additionally, they installed solar, motion-based lighting on the stairs as well as solar lighting along the path. This area, which has a long-standing history with the Scouts, was further enhanced with the installation of a cross for meditation and prayer, as well as adding the instructions on how to pray the Stations for those who may be unfamiliar.

Evan has already achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, as well as completing his Sea Scouts Quartermaster Award late last year at St. Michael's. The Stations of the Cross project allowed for Evan to achieve the Venturing Summit Award. This makes Evan the Occoneechee Council’s FIRST triple crown recipient! This is truly a remarkable achievement. We are proud of all our young servant leaders!
