CATECHISTS AND FAITH FORMATION VOLUNTEERS

CATECHISTS AND FAITH FORMATION VOLUNTEERS

Do you want to help equip the next generation of disciples for Christ? Consider becoming a catechist for our youth Faith Formation programs! We rely upon volunteer catechists for our elementary, intermediate sacramental preparation, middle school, and confirmation programs.

Many of our catechists say that participating often leads them to experience the grace of the sacraments in a newfound light. Our training offers clarification and meaning that enriched their own faith beliefs.

If you aren’t quite ready or don’t have the time to take on the catechist role, we also can always use volunteers for

  • Sunday Volunteers: hall monitor during class sessions, substitute catechist, check in, greeting at drop off
  • Assist at St Mike’s Tikes Monthly Family-based activities
  • Assist at weekend retreats and workshops
  • Chaperones for events off campus or projects.
  • Drivers
  • Hospitality/set up
  • Ushers for liturgies for reception of the sacraments
  • Office volunteers

Training is provided, though having a solid understanding of the faith and the Catechism is helpful in preparation. That does not mean you need to be perfect in your faith! The most important qualification is being willing to share your knowledge and personal experience with the students in our program. Additionally, most of the positions require Safe Environment certification, which we can help you obtain.

We meet once a week following the Wake County academic calendar and the time commitment is about 3-4 hours per week.

There is nothing quite as enriching as passing on your faith to another, especially young people! Please join us in this great and important work.
