Hi, I’m Ricky Kovacs, and I’m grateful to serve as the Coordinator of Membership and Stewardship here at St. Michael Parish. I’m a North Carolina native with more than a decade of ministry experience, and my greatest passion is helping others encounter Christ in a personal and transformative way. In this new role, I’m focused on supporting our parish community, fostering engagement, and encouraging a spirit of stewardship that strengthens our life together.
My call to ministry has taken me well beyond North Carolina. I spent several years in the Holy Land serving as the U.S. Director of Marketing & Development for the Pontifical Institute Notre Dame of Jerusalem, and I also worked with the Holy See’s Mission to the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland. These experiences deepened my understanding of the Church’s global mission and the needs of the wider world.
Closer to home, I served nearly a decade as Director of Music at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Boone. Parish ministry continues to shape my heart and inspire the work I do today. I hold degrees from Appalachian State University and a Master of Arts in Theology from the University of Notre Dame.
My wife and I met at Appalachian State through Catholic Campus Ministry, and we are blessed with two children, Luka and Lily. We’ve been part of the St. Michael community since 2017 and have joyfully served in the Sunday night music ministry.
Outside of ministry, I enjoy music and recording, hiking, virtual photography, gaming, and exploring different cultures. I’m honored to share my gifts with this community and look forward to helping strengthen our mission of evangelization, discipleship, and communion in Christ.
