Hello! I’m Mark Lawson, and I serve as Assistant Secretary and a member of the Budget Committee at St. Michael. As part of the Budget Committee, I work with fellow members to review financial reports, develop the parish budget, and ensure responsible stewardship of parish resources.

I’ve been a parishioner at St. Michael for 28 years. Professionally, I bring a strong background in financial services and strategic leadership as the President of the Cary Chamber of Commerce and a former commercial banker. In my current role, I oversee the Chamber’s financial operations and budgeting, which directly supports my work on the Council by guiding thoughtful financial decisions and promoting long-term sustainability for our parish community.

Outside of my Council duties, I enjoy staying active through exercise and tennis. I’m also an avid fan of college basketball, college football, and the NFL. Most of all, I value spending quality time with my family and friends - it’s the best way to recharge and stay grounded.

What I enjoy most about being on the Council is the opportunity to be a thoughtful steward of our parish’s resources while giving back to a community that has given so much to me and my family. It’s also a meaningful way to connect with fellow parishioners and build strong relationships rooted in our shared faith.

My advice to anyone thinking about getting more involved in parish life is simple:
Start by finding one activity that speaks to you and give it a try. Getting involved is a great way to build community, deepen your faith, and make a real impact. Just take that first step!
