Fr. Alapaty

What a blessing it is for me to come back to St. Michael the Archangel, the Parish where I did my first Mass in the United States outside of India.  I was born on May 4, 1963, in Guntar, India to my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Showraiah and Francisamma Alapaty.  My parents were agriculturalists and illiterate, and my siblings and I were fortunate to go to school.  My maternal uncle was a priest and a great inspiration to me, as he joined the seminary at the age of 15 and ordained on April 13, 1989, to the Diocese of Bellary.  My uncle also worked in different parishes and served 3 years a Parochial Vicar and 19 years as a Pastor.

My seminary studies were at St. John's Minor at Nellore, St. John's Major at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh State in India. I came to the Diocese of Raleigh in March 2011 through the recommendation of Fr. Ignatius and Bishop Burbidge who appointed me as a Priest Chaplain at WakeMed Raleigh Campus and weekend Minister at St. Michael.  I continued at WakeMed until I was appointed as Parochial Vicar this past week.  I was also fortunate to celebrate my Silver Jubilee of Priesthood at St. Michael.

St. John the Evangelist and St. Paul have been a great influence on me, and I enjoyed being a missionary both in India and Raleigh where I am so blessed to help my brother priests, and my people.  I love my sacramental ministry and my hobby is helping others grow in their relationship with Christ.  I am so blessed to be joining the wonderful community with Very Reverend Father Michael and Reverend Father John De Guzman.

I love you all and I look forward to spending more time with you, maybe at a house blessing or meeting you for an appointment. Please introduce yourself to me sometime after Mass.  God bless you all.
