Introducing Our New Maintenance Supervisor

We are pleased to welcome Bruce Mahlstadt as our newest Maintenance Supervisor at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

Bruce brings more than six years of hands-on experience as a skilled handyman, having worked in residential homes, apartment complexes, commercial spaces, and HUD properties. His background includes project management, basic plumbing and electrical work, carpentry, drywall repair, painting, and the use of power tools—skills that will be a great asset to our parish campus.

Beyond his professional experience, Bruce has a strong heart for service and leadership. He has served as a Volunteer Coordinator at the Wayne County Museum and has been actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, where he organized and led free home-repair workshops to teach practical skills such as basic electrical work, plumbing, and drywall repair. He has also served with the Helping Hands Ramp Ministry, helping build handicap ramps for low-income individuals with disabilities. In addition, Bruce shared that he previously led a St. Joseph the Worker workshop, helping others develop practical handyman skills—beautifully blending faith and service.

Bruce, a convert to the Catholic faith, and his wife are parishioners of St. Mary Parish in Goldsboro. His wife is a longtime parishioner of Saint Ann Catholic Church and currently works in Fuquay-Varina. They plan to relocate to the area from Dudley in the near term. Bruce will officially join our staff on January 26. He will be working closely alongside Ken Nelson and the facilities team to help care for and maintain our parish grounds and buildings.

Please join us in giving Bruce a warm St. Michael welcome!
