Meet Gloria: SHARES Family Case Manager
SHARES ANNOUNCEMENT
July, 2025

About four years ago, the SHARES (Serving Hope, Assistance, Resources & Emergency Support) program was started as a pilot at St. Michael in partnership with Catholic Charities Centro para Familias Hispanas because we felt the need to offer more to people seeking assistance from us than telling them to go elsewhere. Our partnership with Catholic Charities provided us with their knowledge and expertise in Case Management and a full-time, bilingual, Family Case Manager who was based at St. Michael.
This partnership has proven to be very successful as we have served many parishioners, people in our community, and others, with referrals to needed resources, direct assistance, and longer-term help with life skills, such as budgeting and goal-setting.
With the recent resignation of Joel Carreras from the SHARES Family Case Manager position, Fr. Scott, Danielle Crane, Director of Operations and Carolyn Wilson, Director of Pastoral Services, had the opportunity to evaluate the program and its success. The decision was made to bring the position in-house as a permanent full-time St. Michael staff position. Because of our desire for a seamless transition, we have entered into a new agreement with Catholic Charities in which they will serve in an advisory role to Carolyn Wilson.
We are happy to announce the appointment of Gloria Grove as the new SHARES Family Case Manager with a start date of Monday, August 11. Gloria grew up in Chapel Hill and is a product of our Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Raleigh. Gloria recently married her husband, Jake.
Gloria brings direct experience in Family Case Management having served as a Social Worker with the Chatham County Department of Social Services. She has a degree in Social Work from NC State and is passionate about building relationships, empowering families, and connecting individuals with community resources. She is also motivated by Catholic social teaching and treating individuals with compassion and is bilingual.
The position will continue to be funded through the generous donations directed to the SHARES program through the second collection on our Parish Feast Day weekend and throughout the year.
Through SHARES, St. Michael will continue to serve those who come to us seeking assistance with basic needs.
“’ . . . For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’” [Mt 25:35-36]
