Hello! My name is Deacon Luis Royo, and I serve as the Director of Hispanic Ministry here at St. Michael. I see myself as a disciple of Jesus, with a deep passion for inviting others to know Him and to become His disciples too. I strive to serve our community by fostering connections among all parishioners, cultivating a Eucharistic parish, and caring for the most vulnerable among us. While I’m new to St. Michael, I bring with me over 16 years of experience serving at St. Thomas More Parish. I’m very familiar with the life of a multicultural, active Catholic parish with a parochial school, and I’m excited to be part of this vibrant community.

I’m married to Alexandra Romero, a preschool teacher at Carrboro Elementary School. We have two adult children: Luis Alejandro, who is pursuing a PhD at the University of Maryland focusing on teaching math to underserved communities, and Angela Sofia, a psychologist with a Master’s in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience from Frei University in Berlin, she’s currently living and working in Germany.

One of my favorite Bible verses is Romans 8:28, which continues to be a guiding light in my life.
