Hi, my name is Dave Wulff, and I am deeply grateful to serve as a Deacon here at St. Michael. It is a great joy to assist in celebrating the sacraments of Baptism, Marriage, and Funerals, and to serve at the altar and in many other parish ministries. Each day I thank God for the grace of this vocation and for the opportunity to serve His people.
In addition to my ministry as a Deacon, I also serve as the Director of Security for St. Michael, working alongside a dedicated group of parishioners who generously volunteer their time to care for our parish community and campus. I am also honored to lead our Safe Environment Team, helping ensure that St. Michael remains a place where all feel safe, respected, and welcomed.
I have been a parishioner of St. Michael since moving to Cary in 1985, when I began my career with the Cary Police Department. I served with the department until my retirement in 2011, and during that time I also helped establish the Chaplaincy Program, which later became an important part of my own faith journey. Through prayer and discernment, I felt the Lord calling me to the Diaconate, and I was ordained on June 27, 2020. I currently continue to serve as a Chaplain for the Cary Police Department, a role that allows me to support officers and families in moments of both challenge and hope.
My wife, Linda, and I live just a mile from the parish we love and remain actively involved in the life of St. Michael. Our faith has been especially strengthened through several pilgrimages over the years, including journeys to the Holy Land, Lourdes, Fatima, and the Footsteps of St. Paul. These sacred experiences have deepened our love for the Church and renewed our commitment to live our faith with humility and trust in the Lord.
Sacred Scripture guides me daily, especially the words of St. Paul: “For when I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10), along with the reminder that the Church is “the household of God… the pillar and foundation of truth” (1 Timothy 3:15). I am also continually inspired by the wisdom of St. Teresa of Calcutta: “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
Above all, what makes St. Michael's such a blessing to serve is its people. The parishioners and staff create one of the most welcoming and faith-filled environments I have ever known. It is truly a joy and a privilege to serve in a community so deeply rooted in Christ’s love.\
