Our Commitment to Safety
The Safe Environment Program of the Diocese of Raleigh and St. Michael Catholic Church ensures that all volunteers and employees who share their time and talent within our community meet the highest standards of safety and accountability. St. Michael follows the Diocese of Raleigh Guidelines for the Protection of Minors, reflecting our unwavering commitment to creating a secure, sacred space where human dignity is safeguarded. Everything we do as a church reflects our dedication to respecting life in all situations by fostering the development of each individual and ensuring a secure, welcoming environment that upholds human dignity.
Guided by the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People (USCCB, 2002), the Diocese of Raleigh Office of Child and Youth Protection has strengthened safeguards in place since 1993 to ensure the safety of children in our diocese. The Diocesan Code of Professional Responsibility (1998) was re-written as the Code of Conduct for Church Personnel of the Diocese of Raleigh, setting high expectations for conduct and respect for those entrusted to our care.

Getting Safe Environment Certified
All clergy, employees, and volunteers in leadership roles with children or youth must complete Safe Environment Training before beginning service. This training is also required for anyone volunteering at any campus event whether at the parish, preschool, or school.
- Initial Training is required for all new clergy, employees, and volunteers.
- Annual Renewal is required each year after completing the initial course.
