Grief, often the most profound form of sorrow, demands the support and compassion of our fellow human beings. Since the beginning of time, people have come together in times of grief to help one another. Grief support groups provide an opportunity for this kind of help and support.
As a guide, the group will use the book, Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing Your Heart by Alan Wolfelt, PhD. In compassionate, down-to-earth language, the book describes ten touchstones – or trailmarkers – that are essential physical, emotional, cognitive, social, and spiritual signs for mourners to look for on their journey through grief. Most important, while each person’s grief is unique, you are not alone on the journey.
The program includes a copy of Understanding Your Grief and a companion Journal (a suggested $20.00 donation). The St Michael Bereavement Support Group meets Tuesday evenings 7:00-8:30 PM in the Archangel Center, Room V for 12 week series – call or email to find out when the next series begins.
