Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered during the Sunday Masses at St. Michaels main campus and at St. Michaels at Green Hope from Sept. through June, with the exception of liturgical holidays. See the church bulletin for times that it is offered. Children's Liturgy of the Word welcomes all children ages 4 through third grade. At the beginning of Mass children are called forward and dismissed with catechists to participate in the Liturgy of the Word. The children return to Mass during the offertory to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Parents are welcome to attend, until their child is able to go independently.

Children's Liturgy introduces children to both the structure of liturgical worship and the experience of worship so they grow in the understanding and love of God. The Scripture readings are presented to the children at an age appropriate level, along with an interactive homily. A Children’s Bulletin is distributed as a take home activity.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word follows a strict schedule of mass using the Lectionary for Masses with Children and the other resource guides, and should not be confused with Sunday School or religious education class.

The ministry is operated as a parent co-op and parents are required to volunteer as a lead or assistant catechist once every 2 months. We welcome your child to attend and experience the Liturgy of the Word in a developmentally appropriate format.
